"Listening In" - taught by Frey Faust

Our mere existence creates the necessity to enter into a dialogue with the forces that surround us, requiring us to take in information and then act on it. The arcing, bowl-like shapes of the body establish reception and processing stations where data is channeled and stored. If we leave these "listening" areas open, the quality and rapidity of the dialogue can be enhanced.

"Tensegrity Study" - taught by Frey Faust

Tensegrity, or "tension/integrity" is nature's principle of balance between push and pull, evident in all organic structures. R. Buckminster Fuller, the scientist and engineer, gave us an essential key to living and working in harmony with our bodies when he coined this term. These two forces collaborate to allow us to suspend ourselves over the surface of the earth, and find structural integrity while we are falling through space. The discipline is to discover what movement is implicit in the shapes and position of the limbs relative to the choices we have at any one moment.

"Off Balance" - taught by Ana Flecha

In this class we will play with ways to surrender our weight in safe and efficient ways. Various levels of surrender are appropriate for different situations. Our goal will be to gain awareness in moments when we are unconsciously holding ourselves back from a fall unnecessarily, or when we are giving too much weight over to an inefficient pathway. Some classes will take place on the beach and in the water.

Aeronautics 1 - taught by Kevin O'Connor

Discover how to utilize physics and biomechanical principles in the vertical realm. This class will focus on harnessing gravity and applying anatomical understanding to move on the vertical rope with ease. We will also focus on developing aerial choreography through safe functional movement

"Wave Rider" - taught by Frey Faust

Once we know how to create channels for momentum, we can pour our bodies into and through them, allowing our will to be cradled in the flood of kinetic energy. This class will provide opportunities to release into the flow of weight and enhance our dialogue between our intentions and what is actually possible.

"Count On Me" - taught by Frey Faust

Partnered improvisation can benefit enormously from a mature relationship with structured time. This class will offer games to play with rhythm as we get into and out of touch and weight-bearing situations with others.

Aeronautics 2 - taught by Kevin O'Connor

Aerial Partnering

We will explore how the rope can be used to link moment from the vertical to the horizontal field in both individual and partnering situations.  We will also explore movement with two or more peopl interacting on the vertical rope.

"Ahimsa Applications" - taught by Frey Faust

Ahimsa is the ethic of "non-injury", or doing harm to none. Included in this noble aspiration is you and your body. In this class we will practice meditative strengthening and stretching principles to refine our sense of internal justice.

"Dynamic Repertory" - taught by Ana Flecha

This class will introduce high-dynamic choreography and other opportunities to test the waters within the context of the Axis Syllabus principles, as well as allow space for self-expression and
explore ways of interweaving phrase material compositionally.

"Laterally Speaking" - taught by Ana Flecha

An in-depth study of side-bending principles and their application to movement through space. This class will also delve into contact improvisation, and particularly what side bending can help us communicate to our partners as we dance together.
